Olive Bistro and Bar is a cheerful place with a really quirky decor. You look at it from outside and you want to visit it. It is located on the top floor of Oberoi Mall, Goregaon and is a delight for sore eyes. The food here is decent, not our of the world good. A bit on the expensive side, this Olive is a fine dine restaurant that has more to offer in terms of ambience than the food. The menu is extensive and service is quick and friendly.
Here’s a peep into what we tried:
We started with OB Insanity Cake Slice, which is a mind blowing cake slice, with multiple layers of chocolate sponge cake, white cream, red currant mousse and vanilla cream, with a cherry on top! So many flavours at once, it is insane! Maybe that’s why the name. We loved this one and you can surely decide to cheat on your diet with OB Insanity Cake. It would be insane not to!
Grilled Cottage Cheese on Skewers had soft pieces of cottage cheese, marinated in a mildly sweet gravy and served on a bed of cream cheese. Had this been spicy, I would have recommended to go ahead and order it every single time… The marinade is supposed to be Chermoula, which ideally should not be sweet but rather tangy and mildly spicy.
From their Pizza options, we tried All Veg. Pizza and Siciliano Pizza. All Veg Pizza is a thin crust pizza loaded with vegetables and a little cheese. Pizza Siciliano has tons of olives, capsicum and cottage cheese pieces and is an=gain a wood oven baked, thin crust pizza. The pizzas here are decent.
We also tried Chocolate milkshake and Gelato – Chocolate. The milkshake was chocolaty and thick. Liked it!
Overall Experience: The ambience is lively and cheerful, it doesn’t let you want to leave. The food doesn’t really make you want to stay.
The Battle: Coming to terms with the fact that such a lively place can have such lukewarm taste in food. The combination of both being good would have been deadly!!
