You know what we absolutely love about Google Maps? Its ability to make you lose your way, especially when you are already late.
But then sometimes, wrong roads lead you to the right destinations!
That is exactly how we discovered White Rose Café. Hidden in a quiet corner of Lokhandwala back road, pretending to not exist, is this beautiful and charming little café. White Rose Café is a hidden gem, with its old world charm and English elegance.
The blue-golden combination that shows off its name and the pretty garden at the entrance are so inviting! You just wanna leave everything behind and walk into the cafe. It is especially exquisite in the evenings with its romantic appeal.
Wooden furniture, marble table tops and a colourful glass door, straight out of your grandmother’s room. Colourful frames line one of the walls, a rocking chair here and wooden cupboard with memorabilia and books there. Our favourite spot would ideally be the open garden seats, but since that is a smoking zone, the high tables by the large windows are the best ones! It gives the perfect view of the buzzing road outside.
The cafe is well lit and spacious. You can generally find people working on their lappies in the corners. The music is soft, complimenting the decor and ambience. The aroma of coffee being brewed always fills the cafe. The peace is contagious.
Obviously, we started with coffee!
Iced Cappuccino and Iced Espresso are just perfect. Strong and delightful, must try for the caffeine kick!
Blueberry Muffin is perfect, soft and not overly sweet.
The Peace Iced Tea is especially refreshing and the Fresh Fruit Daiquiri is just the right combination of watermelon, lime and basil. Not overly sweet and with the right consistency.
We also tried Cous Cous with Ratatouille which was so scrumptious. Fragrant pesto sauce with a very mildly spicy ratatouille on cous-cous. The combination was just perfect and the aroma made our mouths water. The quantity was generous and the ratatouille was well made with loads of veggies like zucchini and bell peppers. Loved it. Totally recommended.
Mini Veg Burger Chily is a small burger with a scrumptious patty that was stuffed and melting in the mouth. With cheese, lettuce and lots of greens, this was so delectable. Must try! Chilly added a zing to the already amazing patty.
The food at White Rose Cafe is delicious, though not really cheap. Our bill came to something around ₹1700. The service though is really courteous and prompt. The ambience elevates the entire experience up a notch.
Overall Experience: Amazing. Coffee, good food and an ambience that compels you to relax.
The Battle: Oh there was a battle, a battle of burgers. You will not want to share that one! And why is it mini! It should be macro. It should actually be extra large in size!
